To do this, simply load Vocodex, select an internal carrier preset, focus the plugin window, and play your MIDI controller—Vocodex will steal the MIDI input and respond to the notes you play.
Unlink both the Vocal Modulator and Synth Carrier tracks from the Master Mixer track. You only want to hear them through Vocodex. Open Vocodex: Put IL Vocodex on the Vocodex mixer track.
