Lossy compression shrinks file sizes by permanently discarding audio data that human ears supposedly cannot hear. In reality, this process strips away:

These quiet tracks lose their ambient magic and sound thin.

Perhaps the most eccentric track on the album, this song blends a traditional Irish jig (featuring a prominent fiddle and tin whistle) with a classic Bollywood rhythm. The high frequencies of the violin and whistle can easily sound harsh or piercing when compressed. FLAC smooths out these high notes, delivering a warm, analog-like sweetness to the traditional instruments while maintaining the crispness of Shaan and Kavita Krishnamurthy’s vocals. The Gear You Need to Experience It

The opening synth sequence and the iconic digeridoo. The stereo separation allows the electronic elements to swirl around your head while the central rhythm section anchors the track. "Jaane Kyun"

Skip the default system media players. Use software capable of bit-perfect playback: (Universal and free) Foobar2000 (Highly customizable for Windows) VOX (Excellent lossless player for macOS and iOS) Poweramp (The gold standard for Android audio) 2. Hardware Essentials dil chahta hai flac

Tracks like Kaisi Hai Yeh Rut and Jaane Kyun feature intricate acoustic guitar picking. In a compressed MP3, the "string squeak" (the sound of fingers sliding on wound steel strings) is often lost. In , that squeak is audible, offering a three-dimensional seating chart of the recording studio.

More than two decades later, this soundtrack remains a masterpiece. However, listening to it on standard streaming platforms or compressed MP3 files does not do it justice. To truly appreciate the layers, the instrumentation, and the emotional depth of this music, you must experience it in FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Coderic) format. The Limitations of Compressed Audio (MP3 vs. FLAC)

Released in 2001, didn't just change Indian cinema; it revolutionized the "Bollywood sound" . While streaming services offer convenience, listening to this masterpiece in FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) format is the only way to truly appreciate the intricate layers and technical innovations introduced by the composing trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy . The Technical Brilliance of the Soundtrack

Dil Chahta Hai remains a benchmark for modern Indian audio engineering. It was an album built for high-fidelity sound systems, utilizing Western mixing techniques that were ahead of its time. The high frequencies of the violin and whistle

Before analyzing the audio quality, it is essential to understand why the composition itself benefits from high-fidelity playback. Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy did not just write catchy melodies; they layered their tracks with immense atmospheric detail:

When Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai hit screens in 2001, it didn't just change Bollywood filmmaking; it revolutionized the sound of Hindi cinema. The soundtrack, composed by the iconic trio , broke away from the traditional, heavily orchestral melodies of the 90s, offering a modern, youthful, and breezy acoustic palette.

When you listen to an MP3, a compression algorithm removes frequencies that it deems "inaudible" to human ears to reduce file size. This results in flat bass, compressed soundstages, and muddy high frequencies. A FLAC file, however, unzips during playback to deliver bit-perfect studio quality.

FLAC, developed by Jack Johnson and Josh Coon, was first released in 2001, coinciding with the release of "Dil Chahta Hai." The format gained popularity in the mid-2000s, particularly among music enthusiasts who valued high-quality audio. FLAC's ability to store audio data without loss of quality made it an attractive option for music distribution. The format's open-source nature and compatibility with various operating systems further contributed to its widespread adoption. The stereo separation allows the electronic elements to

Cymbals, acoustic guitars, and high vocal notes lose their crisp clarity.

Conclusion: A Timeless Masterpiece Deserves Best-in-Class Playback

it would be better to suggest any method ( like icon packs) to use another fonts without rooting the device. can u tell me how to use them on stable os without rooting?

OnePlus just introduced this Font engine in their latest Open Beta. Perhaps in a future update they will provide an option for custom fonts, but for now, root is the only way to go.

Could you please attach a screenshot of this, as I don't have latest OpenBeta installed? If OP indeed explicitly licensed them under Apache v2.0, then you're good to go.

I see you "like"d my reply, am I good to go? Can I re-add the GDrive link?

Edit: woops, you replied just as I was typing this up. My bad.

Could be used for Windows on pc?

Yes.

To ensure its wide adoption, Apple licensed TrueType to Microsoft for free. By 1991 Microsoft added TrueType into the Windows 3.1 operating system.

Thanks @rarog Glad this is resolved.

It's a really long screenshot, because it's a list of all the files in OxygenOS licensed under Apache v2.0, but here it is: https://goo.gl/photos/Hre9buYDQspMMeAKA

@ZeevoX I have currently removed the Google Drive link. I am getting this checked if it can be shared.

I've just checked in Settings > About Phone > Legal Information > Open source licences and the following files are licensed under the Apache v2.0 License:
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Black.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Bold.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Book.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Light.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Medium.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Regular.ttf
/system/fonts/SlateForOnePlus-Thin.ttf

Therefore I am permitted to distribute these files with reference to the owner, as long as I generate no profit from doing so. I have uploaded these fonts to Google Drive, which does not pay me, so surely I have permission to share these fonts. I have clearly stated that I do not own these fonts, and that their creator is indeed Rod McDonald.

Full licence of these font files available here: https://hastebin.com/raw/wibazoluja

I just made a new Typeface archive and this time, instead of choosing the right fonts (ie Regular = Slate Regular, Medium = Slate Medium, Bold = Slate Bold), I dropped everything down one size.

With Regular now being the light option, and medium being regular, bold is medium, etc, then the font doesn't look half bad!

Posting screenshots as soon as I switch to Chrome

Roboto
dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac

Slate - the right way
dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac

Slate - Adjusted down 1 width
dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac dil chahta hai flac

What do you think? I still like my Josephine Sans too, but the Slate modification looks good to me.
dil chahta hai flac
dil chahta hai flac
dil chahta hai flac
dil chahta hai flac

For those that have tried flashing a different font with this new beta, does it break the lockscreen clock (it replaces the ":" with a box and the usual fix doesn't work)? Tried flashing Product Sans but it broke the Lock screen clock.

Just a note - if there will come an update and the font will be modified, please check, if the license is still Apache v2.0. If yes, you can of course upload them, too. If they won't be under a free license, don't upload the updated versions.

1) You're good to go.
2) OP put OPMusic.apk under Apache v2.0? Well, while I don't think they published their sources, anybody is allowed to hack the app anyway. I fear some devs don't know what they are doing in terms of license. The only sad thing - I don't think you can demand to get the source code.
@ZeevoX I have currently removed the Google drive link. I am getting this checked if it can be shared.

I don't, but they are in /system/fonts/ in OxygenOS Open Beta 8 / 17, and I never claimed them. They are clearly referenced with their source, and I *never* stated I own them.

that's ok ... just shot an email to the owners. hate to see them lose out on $$$, specially if OP just stole it and modified the fonts

Worth noting that this font is probably still quite WIP (if you go over Bug Report section of the forums you'll see)

Otherwise it looks good being not too thick but not condensed

How do i implement these fonts?is it only available for beta users?

If you have a customer recovery and a suitable .zip you can flash any font you like (also needs root).

There are plenty of them around in a huge XDA topic, unfortunately Slate for OnePlus isn't there yet (that's why I asked if anyone's aware of a flashable zip for it...)
On Open Beta 9 the problem with flashing another font and the lockscreen breaking continues
