A 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.

IEEE 1394 is more commonly known as Firewire and is mostly used to connect to peripherals such as digital cameras, camcorders and some external hard drives. It can also be used to network two Firewire-equipped systems together, achieving 12.5 to 50MBps transfer speeds. Firewire networking use is limited because of its 15ft cable length limitation.

I didn't think I could do anything with my 1394 net adaptor, but when I bridged the connection with my lan connection, data transfer is so much faster now.

Why do I have the 1394 Net Adaptor. Its not something I have ever intentionally loaded and seems to REALLY slow my internet interaction? What will be the result if I uninstall it?

Chris,
You don't say how to bridge the firewire and lan connections. Just enabling them on my inspiron 700m does not connect them. My 1394 net adapter is enabled but I cannot get an internet visual from it even though it says that I am connected. My lan connection is enabled and I can access the internet from it but I do not get the higher speed of the 1394 net adaptor. Has anyone been successful at effecting a bridge as Chris infers?

ignore the bridging thing - 1394 is just for plugging in cameras etc as stated & for data transfer between plugin & computer

: Focuses on raw speed and combat. Shadow utilizes his iconic Jump Dash and Chaos Control mechanics to bypass obstacles.

Features the classic Spindash, the Super Peel-Out, and the "Homing Attack" (in specific versions).

Version 5.0 represents a highly polished, feature-rich iteration of this project, utilizing the expanded hardware capabilities of the Sega CD system. Key Features of Version 5.0

: Version 5.0 remains a "BETA" or prototype. It features unfinished levels and some stability issues, making it more of a historical curiosity for hardcore fans than a finished game. Playable Characters and Unique Abilities sonic megamix 5.0 online

The availability of Sonic Megamix 5.0 online speaks to the democratizing power of the internet in preserving gaming history. Because Megamix requires a patch to be applied to a legal ROM file, its distribution has always been a gray area. Yet, through web-based emulators and community archives, the game has found a permanent foothold. This accessibility is vital because Megamix does more than just entertain; it preserves a specific design philosophy that Sega often struggled to maintain. It offers the "Classic Sonic" experience but polished to a mirror sheen, removing the sluggish elements of the 1991 original and replacing them with flow state-inducing speed.

Critically, the game is not without its challenges. As a ROM hack, it assumes a certain level of player competence. The level design can be unforgiving, and the increased speed means the player must react faster than in the original titles. However, this difficulty is a feature, not a bug. It caters to the hardcore fanbase that had memorized every loop and spring in the original games and craved a new challenge.

The "5.0" moniker refers to the final, most complete version of this conceptual evolution. It is not merely a level edit; it is a total conversion featuring: . Original music . Overhauled abilities for multiple characters. : Focuses on raw speed and combat

Sega CD games allowed for much larger file sizes, meaning the maps in Megamix 5.0 are massive. If a particular lower path is giving you trouble, use Tails or Knuckles to scale the walls and find a safer, faster route closer to the ceiling. The Verdict: Why It’s Worth Your Time

Do you need the exact for specific browser emulators? Version 5

Characters like Sonic and Shadow rely heavily on the homing attack. You can chain homing attacks across rows of enemies to cross massive gaps without ever touching the ground. Look for Alternate Paths

To play online , you have two excellent options:

Version 5.0 represents a massive leap forward in polish, content, and character diversity. The game fundamentally changes how classic Sonic levels are approached by introducing five uniquely playable characters, each with their own distinct ability sets:

I was having problems with my LAN connection (Logitech squeezebox set up - data stream kept dropping out/connection failing - on and off for YEARS).

Tried "bridging" 1394 and LAN - FIXED!!

Presumably the 1394 and LAN cards were somehow interfering with each other (fighting over resources and confusing the OS?) and now they are in harmony with each other.

Next I'll try disabling the 1394 completely but for now I'm just going to enjoy some music :-)

i have a windows xp desktop and i had a virus on it that wouldnt let me access it. so i used the windows xp professional installation disc to fully recover it and make a clean slate. It suddenly got rid of my local area connection (i have a yellow ethernet cable plugged into the wall) and all it says is i have a 1394 connection. im thinking that windows xp professional installation disc just decides to install it on (1394 network adapter). im not sure how to get rid of it, i could buy a wireless adapter but id rather just connect with an ethernet cord if i can. any suggestions?

To bridge the 1394 connection and the local area connection.
(1) Disable both.
(2) Select both ( drag or use control click just highlight both connections )
(3) right click within the high lighted area and choose bridge connections
that should bridge them.
